The Elsys ESM5k is a small LoRaWAN sensor ideally suited for refrigeration temperature sensor readings. Inside, it contains a temperature sensor, humidity sensor, light and accelerometer. ESM5k is a small LoRaWAN sensor enclosed in a small ABS box (60x35x20mm).
REQUIRES one Lithium Battery available here
Inside the ESM5k you will find four/five internal sensors: temperature sensor, humidity sensor, light sensor and an accelerometer. It can also be fitted with a PIR motion sensor (MOQ=100).
The Things Network Ready | IoT Scotland Compatible
Our sensors are easy to deploy, with a range of mounting options and user replaceable batteries offering wire-free installation. They are powered by one half 3,6V AA lithium battery . The Battery life is estimated to be up to 10 years but depends on sample interval, transmit interval, data rate, power output and environmental factors. All our Elsys sensors are equipped with NFC for easy configuration with an Android phone. With this NFC application you can change sample rate, data rate, encryption keys, triggers, activation and much more. All of the sensors are built on the LoRaWAN stack from Semtech.
Configuration: All of the Elsys LoRaWAN Sensors can be self-configured using the Android NFC app “SensorSettings“ available from Android Play . We also offer pre-configuration of sensors and gateways to your choice of The Things Network, private LNS, IoT Platform or other services. Contact us for more information.
Frequency and Certification: All our sensors are CE certified, and available for any region including US902-928, EU863-870, AS923, AU915-928 and KR920-923. Deceleration of Conformity for EU, compliance with FCC Rules and Canada licence-exempt – available on request.
Batteries: Professional EVE lithium ION batteries are recommended given reliable performance across varying temperatures and humidity. Transport restrictions for batteries may delay some shipments.

Elsys do a brilliant job of compressing the sensor readings to minimise the payload size which means great reliability over larger distances with lower battery consumption. The Elsys Payload can be decoded using the simple scripts found on their website, or you can view a graphical representation of the data here:
Elsys have designed exceptional devices which absolute minimise power use while delivering outstanding reliability and performance. Their approach to deep sleep and very efficient use of Adaptive Data Rate driving the very best battery life out of the devices. Battery life often over 10 years, although Lithium Ion batteries are only guaranteed for 10 years. Battery life is dependant on the frequency of sampling and the Spread Factor determined by the distance (and interference) to the nearest Gateway. A clever calculator is provided here:
LoRaWAN is brilliant at long-range and has been seen to travel up to 720KM. But realistically we suggest that line-of-sight up to 25KM's in rural areas, 3KM's in urban areas and 800metres indoors. But remember LoRaWAN is based on the law of physics, so obstacles including trees, buildings, walls and even rain can affect signal and therefore distance. The distance and coverage also based on the Spread Factor manually defined or set by Adaptive Data Rate.
We at Concept13 have personally tested every sensor to a minimum of 25KM's outdoor line of sight. Our clients frequently exceeding these tests, like Conwy County Borough Council who have results of over 50KM's (RSSI -116, SNR -6.75, SF7BW125). The image below courtesy of the Council demonstrating the signal from our smallest sensor, the Elsys EMS. (The Elsys EMS an indoor sensor - and not recommended for external use as tested here)
